| BELOW, Johnny & Anna at home, 1940s. Joseph Giordmaine comments: "The photo [below] and the cropped inscription are by NY magician Dell O'Dell, who visited Dad at home with her husband juggler Charles Carrer during a gig in Toronto". | | |
| ABOVE, an impressive honour and outstanding achievement by any standard, Johnny on the cover of Canada's national magazine, Maclean's, January 1st, 1940 RIGHT, Johnny demonstrating in Eaton's "Toyland" Toronto, circa 1950s. He successfully ran its magic counter for thirty years (1930-60). Photo by Herb Nott & Co. BELOW, Johnny entertains Canadian swimmer Marilyn Bell mid 1950s. Bell was the first person to swim across Lake Ontario. | | | | |
| ..................................................................................................... NEW! Johnny's appearance on the front cover of Maclean's (above, top of page) was impressive enough back in its day to even warrant an appreciative reference in Theodore Annemann's "The Jinx" (Edition 75, January 1940). This was the ultimate insider's compliment in the world of magicians back then, Annemann now considered a legendary figure in the history of magic. It is an amusing reference to Johnny's popularity to the effect that even if Johnny bought up a thousand copies to autograph for his friends it still wouldn't be enough, Johnny having at least 4000 friends! | | |
